You’ll need a project to use the CLI directly. To request AI work, install Codex or Claude separately, along with the gdm skills.
Check help and your environment
gdm --help
gdm doctor
Optional: use with AI
Add gdm skills if you want to request work from AI. For direct CLI use, see gdm --help for the available commands.
After installing the skills, start a new Codex or Claude session in your project.
Make a request after installing skills
In Codex:
$gdm-go Fix the login error and verify the result
In Claude Code:
/gdm-go Fix the login error and verify the result
To use the skills with Pi, install Pi separately, then launch gdm-pi. For everyday AI tasks, start with gdm-go.
Install path · Command not found
The default install path is ~/.local/bin. After installation, open a new terminal and run your selected tool.
command not found: add the line below to your shell config (for default zsh, ~/.zshrc), then open a new terminal. PATH tells your terminal where to find executables.
export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"
To choose a different path, add --prefix /absolute/path to the install command. For new gid tasks from iPhone, use the default path. The connection service currently looks for ~/.local/bin/gid.
The base installation adds executables and license notices only. It does not change shell startup files or AI agent settings.
Skills add gdm workflows for Codex, Claude, and Pi, the gdm-pi launcher, and a Codex task gate. This hook checks verification results when an AI task finishes.
Existing gdm skills are updated. Existing Codex hooks are preserved and backed up. If needed, the installer adds ~/.local/bin to your shell PATH. It does not copy other agents’ sign-in details. Start a new AI session after installation.

Do I need to reinstall gid for new models?
gid’s default engine queries model lists through the official Codex and Claude CLIs. Open /model or press r to refresh. While the list stays open, it checks again every 15 minutes.
You don’t need to reinstall gid for every new model. The official CLI must expose the model, so update that CLI if the list is old. Actual availability still depends on your account and the service response.
If discovery fails, gid keeps the last successful list. Without a saved list, it shows default model aliases. New models do not replace your current selection or default. Choose a model, then use s or /model save to save your default.
Can each person customize their colors and theme?
Yes. gdmux and gid read settings from each user’s home folder. New installations start with Tokyo Night; existing choices are preserved. These examples use default config paths. Back up your config and merge only the settings you need.
Optional theme example: Black Glass. These files demonstrate personal color customization. The product screenshots use the default theme. Apply this skin only if you want it.
gid: ~/.config/gid/config.json, using ui.theme to choose a theme. This example shows only the relevant setting.
{
"ui": { "theme": "black-glass" }
}
Download Black Glass JSON for gid ↓ · Save the downloaded file to ~/.config/gid/themes/black-glass.json. After saving it, select it in a conversation with /theme black-glass. A theme in the project’s .gid/settings.json takes priority over personal settings.
gdmux: ~/.config/gdmux/config.toml: edit [theme] and [theme.colors]. Download Black Glass TOML for gdmux ↓ and merge its two theme sections into your config. Do not duplicate sections or overwrite the whole file. Changes apply when you next open the gdmux view.
Translucent backgrounds: Black Glass follows your terminal background. Set a black background and opacity in Ghostty for a translucent surface, while reading panels stay dark and opaque. The example below is a Ghostty setting; a skin file does not change terminal settings.
Your terminal must support transparency. Native macOS full screen may appear opaque. Starting gdmux with --theme or GDMUX_THEME applies the named preset instead of custom file colors.
Delete only the executables for the tools you want to remove. These examples assume the default install path. This page displays the commands; it does not run them.
To remove just one, keep only that executable’s path in the command. If you chose a different install directory, use its actual path.
Work records, conversations, account settings, and separately installed gdm skills remain. To remove skills, first disable the gdm hook in your agent settings, then remove each agent’s gdm-* skills. Keep other hooks intact.
How do I connect my Codex or Claude account?
AI features in gid require the official Codex or Claude CLI and sign-in to that service. Use gid auth status to check your status. For your chosen service, run gid login codex or gid login claude.
AI service access is not included. If sign-in fails, check authentication in the corresponding official CLI as well.

Which Macs are supported? Is the source available?
This public preview supports Apple Silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 13 or later. Public executables are Developer ID signed and Apple notarized. You do not need Rust, Bun, or a GitHub login to install them.
The source repository is private. Public Windows and Linux installers are not available yet.
What do I need to continue on my iPhone?
On iOS 17 or later, download gdmux from the App Store for free. Remote work requires a Mac that stays on and online, plus the connection service.
Run the command below on your Mac and follow the account and Mac pairing steps. Use the same account in the iPhone app. Inside gdmux, press Ctrl+B then m to open connection settings.
gdmux --remote
To create a new gid task from your iPhone, install gid separately or select all tools. Install it at the default path: the Mac currently uses ~/.local/bin/gid.
You’ll need a project to use the CLI directly. To request AI work, install Codex or Claude separately, along with the gdm skills.
Check help and your environment
gdm --help
gdm doctor
Optional: use with AI
The install command above includes --with-skills. Run it, then start a new Codex or Claude session in your project.
Download archives · Manual installation
These links download archives without running the installer. Extract an archive and place the executables from bin/ in your chosen directory.
Release: preview-20261008.3. Release dates and builds may differ even when the application version is unchanged.
Select the tools you want to update and run the same installation command again. Tools you did not select stay installed as they are.
Running gdmux sessions keep using the existing background program. Finish your work, close all sessions, and start gdmux again to use the new version. The installer does not terminate running tasks.
The interface starts in Korean for a Korean system language, and English otherwise. Your manual choice is saved. This changes interface text only; terminal output, files, conversations, and AI response language are unchanged.
Full English support and an in-app language selector for iPhone are coming in the next update. The current App Store version has partial English support.
Open the globe icon at the top of this website to choose a language. Shared /en/ links always open in English. Switching languages preserves your selected tools and page location.
gdmux: press Ctrl+B, then p to open the command palette. Search for language and choose English, 한국어, or Auto. The change applies immediately and is saved to your config.
gid: enter /language en or /language ko in a conversation to save your preference. /language auto clears the fixed choice and follows your system language.
gdm: save your preference with gdm language en or gdm language ko. Use gdm language auto to return to automatic selection. For one launch only, use the commands below.
gdmux --language en
gid --language en
gdm --language en --help
