# Black Glass — optional personal theme

[한국어](README.md) · [Installation guide](https://gdmux.pages.dev/en/start/#themes)

Black Glass is an optional example skin, not the default theme. New gdmux and gid installations use Tokyo Night. Back up your existing configuration and merge the relevant settings; do not replace your full config file.

## gid

1. Download [gid.json](gid.json) and save it as `~/.config/gid/themes/black-glass.json`.
2. In `~/.config/gid/config.json`, set `ui.theme` to `black-glass`, preserving all other settings:

```json
{
  "ui": { "theme": "black-glass" }
}
```

You can also choose it during a conversation with `/theme black-glass`. A theme in the project’s `.gid/settings.json` takes priority over personal settings.

## gdmux

Download [gdmux.toml](gdmux.toml). Merge its `[theme]` and `[theme.colors]` sections into `~/.config/gdmux/config.toml`. Update an existing section instead of adding a duplicate. The change takes effect when you next open the gdmux view.

Launching with `--theme` or `GDMUX_THEME` uses the named preset rather than custom file colors.

## Translucent black in Ghostty

Black Glass follows your terminal background. Add these settings to your Ghostty configuration if you want a translucent black surface:

```ini
background = 000000
background-opacity = 0.7
background-blur = true
```

Reading panels stay dark and opaque. The skin alone does not change terminal settings. Transparency requires terminal support, and native macOS full screen may remain opaque.

## Return to your previous theme

Restore the configuration backup you made before changing themes. In gid you can also use `/theme` to choose a preset. For gdmux, restore the prior `[theme]` settings and remove only the custom color values you added. Keep unrelated configuration.
